14 March 2014 Dear Parents and Carers I am writing to you with some news, reminders and updates: Sports Relief – Fitness14, Saturday 22 March - slots left between 8am-4.15pm: There is just over a week to go so if you can support us in our fundraising event ‘Fitness14’ please do. We are asking entrants to cycle for 15 minutes and to raise a minimum of £10 in sponsorship. A £5 deposit must be paid when booking the 15-minute slot, the remaining £5 to be paid on the actual day. Time slots can be booked at www.bookwhen.com/fitness14 then your £5 deposit needs to be paid to the school office within 5 days to secure your booking. Please support us in this great opportunity to raise lots of extra funds for Sports Relief and our PTA. Non-Uniform Day - Friday 21 March – Wellfield’s World Book Day Next Friday we are holding a book character themed fancy dress / non-uniform day. We are asking all students to dress up or wear non-uniform and pay £1 and bring a chocolate donation (e.g. bar, Easter egg, box of chocolates). The chocolate will go towards the Anggels Spring Project and the Chocolate Bingo. There will be prizes for the best costumes and creativity shown. Friends of Wellfield Chocolate Bingo: Come and join us as the Friends of Wellfield host their annual Chocolate Bingo evening on Friday 28 March 7.15 p.m. at Leyland RAF Club. £1 entrance and lots of chocolate to give away. Important Messages for Year 11: We are aware that this is an exciting time for your child and that they are an incredibly sociable year group who enjoy spending time with each other out of school. I am a little concerned that occasionally the balance between socialising and revision is a little skewed and would ask that you support us by monitoring this carefully. In addition, we are hosting Year 11 Revision Sessions over the Easter holiday across a number of subjects. I ask that you ensure your son/daughter attends them as we know the difference this can make. A copy of the sessions is overleaf. As you will be aware, there is proposed Industrial Action planned for Wednesday 26 March. At this moment in time there are no plans to close the school however, we will keep you informed of any changes. Thank you for your continued support of the school and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us. Yours sincerely
