Pre-K News March 13, 2015 First of all, I want to thank you for remembering to send back the Friday folders on Monday mornings! It is a big help!! We have had so much fun reading lots of Dr. Seuss books this week. As we read the books we picked out all of the rhyming words. Rhyming is a hard concept for some students. We were able to watch some old videos with Dr. Seuss stories. It was fun to see the stories come to life. We watched the older version of The Lorax . This week we have continued to focus on breaking up sounds in words. We have looked at how rhyming words work as well. It was very eye opening to some to see how we just changed the beginning sound to make the rhyme. We have been working the last few weeks on tying shoes with our 1st grade buddies. This skill is something that is very difficult sometimes for the students. The fine motor skill of manipulating the strings can be hard. We are starting slow, if the kids can get the criss cross and go under, that is a start. I am not tying any shoes unless they do the first part for me. We will continue to progress on this skill. Any extra help at home is greatly appreciated!
