VETERINARY ASSISTANT TRAINING SPRING 2016 Course Details COURSE DATES February 1 – June 8 Monday & Wednesday 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. EXTERNSHIPS May 3 – May 27  TUITION $2,300 This includes books, lab and the externship. 



 PREREQUISITES Eligible candidates must:  Be at least 18 years of age  Have a high school diploma or G.E.D.  Be proficient in English  Have adequate understanding of 9th/10th grade algebra and arithmetic.  HOURS  90 Hours – Classroom Instruction  60 hours – Hands-on Externship

Train for a new career today! With pet ownership on the rise, the need for skilled veterinary assistants is in great demand. Veterinary assistants work directly with Veterinarians and veterinarian technicians in private practice, hospitals and clinics, animal shelters, animal control facilities, pet stores and kennels. This course will introduce students to the science of veterinary medicine. Students will learn to care for sick and injured animals, as well as learn client relations, office and hospital procedures, animal nursing, exam room practices, surgical preparations, laboratory processes and radiology, and pharmacology terminology.
