THU OCT 11 *Opening Ceremony & Luncheon 1-2:30PM - Richard Harris Terrace Help  us  kick  off  BMCC’s  first  LGBTQ  Awareness  Month  in  style!   Join  us  for  lunch  as  we  celebrate  the  LGBTQ  and  Ally   community.  Special  guest  Richard  Landman-­‐who  has  been  part   of  New  York’s  LGBTQ  Movement  for  40  years.

THU OCT 18 LGBTQ RESOURCE INFORMATION FAIR 2-4pm - 3rd Floor South Come  learn  about  the  support  services,  on  and  off  campus,   offered  to  the  LGBTQ  and  Ally  community.

THU OCT 25 *FILM AND DISCUSSION "PARIAH" 2-4PM - N402 This  film  screening  will  build  on  the  topic  of  acceptance.   Pariah  is  about  a  17  year  old  African  American  teenager  who   juggles  conflicting  identities  and  risks  friendship,  heartbreak,   and  family  in  a  desperate  search  for  sexual  expression.  A  part   of  the  Ethnic  Studies  department  film  series.

FRI OCT 26 *LGBT Pride Walking Tour of the West Village 12-2:30PM - Meet in the BMCC Lobby Join  us  for  a  fun  and  educational  tour  of  historic  LGBT   landmark  in  nearby  West  Village.  A  bag  of  lunch  will  be   provided.  RSVP  REQUIRED  at  [email protected]

MON OCT 29 *BOOK READING AND DISCUSSION "CHULITO" 3-4PM - S370 Mr.  Charles  Rice  Gonzalez  will  be  reading  and  discussing  his   book   Chulito.  Students  can  receive  a  free  copy  of  his  book  and   attend  a  Q  and  A  session  with  Mr.  Gonzalez  after  his  book   reading.  Do  not  miss  this  chance  to  meet  a  great  author  and   LGBTQ  advocate.

*Meet The Safe Zone Allies Mocktail Happy Hour 4-5PM - Richard Harris Terrace It's  time  to  unwind  and  have  some  fun  -­‐   MOCKTAIL  STYLE!  Join   us  for  drinks,  snacks,with  your  LGBT  and  Ally  peers.  Halloween   costumes  welcomed!

TUES NOV 6 *"Out" in the Workplace Lunch & Discussion 12-1PM - Hudson Room Join  us  and  learn  how  others  have  navigated  the  "coming  out"   process  in  the  workplace.  Gain  valuable  tips  about  the  job   search  process  and  hear  "out"  LGBTQ  professionals  share  their   insight  on  the  topic.

WED NOV 7 *FILM AND DISCUSSION "VITO" 2-4PM - Richard Harris Terrace This  film  screening  will  build  on  the  topic  “coming  out”  and   acceptance  and  generates  awareness  through  meaningful   dialogue  in  a  safe  and  supportive  environment.

FRI NOV 9 *DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL 11AM-12PM - S370 The  LGBTQ  community  at  BMCC  collaborates  with  the  Student   Veterans  Club  hosting  a  workshop  on  the  exploration  of  one  of   United  States  Military’s  most  controversial  policies.  In   collaboration  with  Veteran's  Appreciation  Week.

Visit  a  variety  of  fun  and  informational  tables  designed  to   promote  health  and  wellness.  There  will  be  a  blood  drive   where  you  can  help  our  community  and  donate  blood.  You   can  also  enjoy  interactive  exhibits,  video  presentations,   campus  and  community  organizations  and  more!   THU NOV 15 *LGBTQ RIGHTS 1-2PM - S370

"The  University  Pool",  explores  a  topic  that  is  very  much  of   interest  today:  gay  male  college  athletes.  Join  us  and  the   film's  director  to  discuss  the  experiences  and  struggles  of   going  through  the  “coming  out  process.”  Lunch  will  be   provided. TUE NOV 20 *TRANSGENDER DAY OF REMEMBRANCE WALK 3:45PM  Meet  in  the  BMCC  2nd  floor  Lobby  near  main  entrance Join  the  Brooklyn  Community  Pride  Center  as  we  walk  from   Manhattan  to  Brooklyn  across  the  iconic  Brooklyn  Bridge  to  honor   those  who  have  lost  their  lives  due  to  hate  crimes  against  the   transgender  community.  RSVP  REQUIRED  at   [email protected]
