Student Learning Outcomes LANHT 023 PLANT TERMINOLOGY
Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1 Examine and/or dissect, differentiate, and analyze structural and morphological features of a diversity of plant species, and correctly apply standardized botanical terms describing those features. This skill is a precursor to successful completion of pla 2 Using published dichotomous keys, identify an unfamiliar plant species or its family by analyzing the specimen and applying appropriate botanical descriptive terms. 3 Utilize, interpret, and cite a diversity of botanical and horticultural references, such as botanical floras, horticultural encyclopedias, monographs and journal articles with respect to plants commonly used in horticulture such as perennials, conifers, C
4 Write syntactically and orthographically correct scientific names of plants using international standards as set out in the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi and plants.
