Ken Yanke Aide to the National Commander 2014-2015

Ken Yanke is a 21 year member of the Sons of The American Legion, Walter Rhoades Squadron 111, Louisville, Colorado. Ken and his wife Diana celebrated their “Silver” 25th Anniversary in 2014. Two children Robert and Ronda have expanded their family with 7 Grand kids, Amber, Jose, Jonathan, Rosa Linda, Rachel, David and Kevon. Ken’s eligibility is thru his Father Richard C. Yanke Sr. Who joined the Army in 1952 and served 20 years in the Air Force. “When I learned I could join The American Legion, as my Dad’s youngest, I immediately acquired his Discharge papers, joined my father and became a member of the Sons.” Ken’s involvement at the Squadron level has been Commander, Adjutant or Finance Officer. He has been a member of the Honor Guard. At the Detachment, he has served most all the major positions. While he has been involved as a counselor at Boys State, his real passion is for the Oratorical Contest. Serving in most any capacity that is needed. Chairing the Judges, Score Tallying or Volunteer personnel , moderator to Coffee Su Chef. “There is no job I won’t do to give these kids the same opportunity The American Legion gave me as I was growing up in Rock, Michigan.” (Yes I am a U’per). As an avid hunter and Fisherman, Ken and his wife enjoy the outdoors. Ken has 6 years in College. An Associate Degree in Electronics Technology from Denver Institute of Technology and a BA with a CIS minor from Regis University. I look forward to aiding Commander Mike Moss during his year in “Building Bridges to the Future.”
