'Putting Investors First' Month at CFA Societies Australia As part of ‘Putting Investors First Month’, and on the back of the recently released CFA survey, ‘From Trust to Loyalty: a global survey of what investors want’ (Survey), CFA Societies Australia hosted panel discussions in Melbourne and Sydney with CFA leaders and prominent members drawn from different sectors of the financial services industry on hand to debate the issues around investor trust.

- Inna Zorina, CFA Society Melbourne - Secretary One cold winters’ evening in June, the function room at Collins Quarter was full, warm and welcoming. Over 70 CFA charterholders and candidates feasted on canapes and beverages while networking with their peers. There was a good crowd present and the night continued long after the official 7:30pm finishing time, with Factset generously extending the bar tab. Thank you to all attendees and to Factset, the event sponsor for the night. Click here for more details

The panels brought out an important fact: Australia’s market is very different to the global market. Compulsory superannuation makes investing mandated in Australia, meaning everyone is an investor whether they want to engage or not and so putting investors first is paramount. Trust continues to be discussed as an important component of our industry. To keep trust we must ensure that each company builds an ethical culture and that each role in that company is provided with the right competency standards to do their job while adhering to a strong multi-tiered compliance framework. UPCOMING EVENTS Webinar | A New Investment Analysis 12 July 2016 Many analysts and investors use financial report information in their investment models, unaware that this information has lost most of its capital market relevance. The ability of reported earnings to predict corporate performance is fast deteriorating. In this webinar, moderated by Martin S. Fridson, CFA, Baruch Lev will present and demonstrate a new analysis. Rather than relying on accounting data, it is based on information that matters: the assets that create competitive advantage, as well as their growth, their

The ARX is seeking thought leadership material in the form of journal articles, research papers, presentations, opinion pieces, research critiques, etc.The scope is broad in the sense that we're looking for material that you think would be relevant to the Asia-Pacific community, even if the material itself may be related to a market/area outside this region. Creating an account on ARX is as straightforward as uploading content. Any material uploaded is considered as being "posted", rather than "published" so its copyright remains with you. A minor caveat applies to uploading published papers for which you would need to check the relevant journal's copyright policy.
