Sacred History Hebrews 12:1 “Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance that race that is set for us.” We at the Geneseo United Methodist Church have begun a new adventure. This adventure is the writing of the third book on our Geneseo history which now covers over 150 years. Joe Brandt and Aniqa Prouse have taken on the responsibility of compiling the documentation and pictorial accounts of our history. However, all those who have gone before us, and all of us are contributors and authors of this history. Each person and each account is a vital part of our community. The first meeting was held on 15 May 2019, and there will be many more over the next year. I pray that all of us will take the opportunity to share our story and experiences here as part of this community. In Hebrews 12:1, Paul writes about a great cloud of witnesses surrounding us. It brings to mind all those who have gone before us and all those who have lived out their lives as part of this Geneseo community. Their experiences and their lives are a witness to a life of faith and community that we now proclaim. As we gather the details of our history, we do so with reverence and respect for those who have gone before us. As we share our experience in this community, we pass on a heritage to the generations to come. Please watch for events and opportunities to contribute to this project. I believe we will be blessed by it and our efforts will be a blessing for the generations to come. Blessings, Pastor Harry NEXT MEETING: WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19TH, 2019 6:00 P.M. (See Page 6)
