Professor Kalman is Professor of Medicine at the University of Melbourne, the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Professor Kalman has an international reputation in the field of mapping and ablation of atrial arrhythmias and is on the editorial board of 7 international cardiology journals including the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He is an international editor of Pacing and Clinical Electrophysiology. He has published over 150 original manuscripts. He is regularly invited to speak and chair sessions at major international scientific meetings in the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia. Professor Kalman is the current scientific chairman of the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Professor Kalman was awarded the R.T. Hall Prize for research by the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand in 2003 and the Eric Susman Prize of the Australasian College of Physicians for 2005. This prize is for the most outstanding contribution to the knowledge of any field of internal medicine.
