THIS COMING SUNDAY Scripture - John 14:1-7;27 Sermon - “How to Deal with Uncertainty” LAST SUNDAY Worship - 70

The Christian Call January 5, 2011 Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Throughout world history, there have been times of uncertainty. There have been times of trial and with trial comes the nagging feeling of helplessness. There are times in our personal lives when we are uncertain, and with that uncertainty comes feelings of helplessness and frustration, the frustration which comes from the knowledge that we cannot control the things to come. This is especially true when God calls a person to another place to do something else for Him. This is my situation, and I would be lying if I said I was not a bit nervous. But I also know that there is a reason for all this change and transition, there is the knowledge that my true ministry at this time in my life is to be the father my boys need. Now, you may be tired of hearing about Josh and Jake, but I cannot help but convey a father’s pride when I think of them, and I cannot help but share that pride from time to time. But I know that I have been called to the ministry of fatherhood, at least until they become grown men with lives of their own. I know not how I will make my living nor where I will live, but I know I have Christ, and He will supply my every need. I know that God first planted this seed in Sheryl’s heart, and through her God announced His intention to me. Having finally begun to grasp this fact, I am now beginning to let go of the uncertainty and the fear and I now have the strength to order the devil to go away from me and let the Father do His work in me and in us. To the flock of First Christian Church, the uncertain times are coming for you as well. But I say to you, BE NOT AFRAID!! The Lord will guide you through the changes which need to be made, especially in light of our struggling economy, and He will enable you to move forward, using your gifts and talents in order that the community and the world around us may know Jesus Christ now and forever. God bless you all as we continue down this road together. As always, I am, Your brother in Christ, Brother Larry

bers the best and most effective ways to minister to the community around us. Remember, it is not enough to just hold a title or an office; there are responsibilities which range far beyond giving prayers at the communion table or passing around offering plates. It is essential that all church officers attend monthly board meetings as often as possible. Please come as often as you can, especially as we begin this new year of 2011.
