A brand new resource is now available through the SMU Deaf Academics & Interpreters webpages. We’re thrilled to release the Atlantic Provinces Sign Language Place Name maps! There is now an online map tool that preserves and demonstrates the MSL and ASL place names of Atlantic Canada. All place names are signed by local Deaf community members, and there are captions for full accessibility. Currently there are 120 different place names documented. The team plans to add more to the Newfoundland & Labrador map in the future. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our funders as well as the Deaf, interpreting, and signing communities. A culmination of a year’s work led by Betty MacDonald and Linda Campbell, as well as the members of the Deaf talent team and SMU mapping experts have brought about this amazing resource. We hope you enjoy using this resource and share it with your friends and colleagues! Please contact Ashley if you have any questions, feedback, concerns, awesome PD ideas, etc. at: [email protected] or 902-496-8761
