9 January 2015 Dear Parents/Carers, Welcome back and happy New Year to you all. I am sure that 2015 is going to be a successful but challenging year for us all as we move forward as a school and community. Good Starts to the Day in January: A reminder that in January all pupils are entitled to a free breakfast in the canteen at Wellfield. We have, as I said in my last newsletter to you for the last two years run a Breakfast Club and all pupils on free school meals have an allowance. Following the success of this club we have decided to extend this to all pupils for the month of January. With further support from our PTA and other funding streams, in particular Kellogg’s, we have managed to secure funding to pilot this Breakfast Club for all pupils. Between 8.15 - 8.45am pupils will be able to receive a free breakfast consisting of either cereal, toast or fruit with a drink from our canteen. If we are able to secure more funding in the future we will look to extend this provision. So please, if your son or daughter has to rush in the morning before school, getting washed and dressed, organising their bags and equipment and then travel to school, please encourage them to come to our Breakfast Club and get a good start to the day. Interim Reports and Parents Evenings: These were sent out to all parents before the Christmas break and we have received a number of very positive responses so far. If you have not managed to complete the feedback slip yet please do so and return it to school. The interim report is a brief summary of your child’s progress data. The data may seem a little impersonal but it is about your child and further more personalised comments are sent out in the full school reports later in the year. We have parents evening for Years 7 to 10 this term and this will be a further opportunity for you to gain a more personalised insight into your child’s progress from their subject teachers.
