"Our group of fifteen U.S. university students was hosted by the University Centre ofthe Westfjords as a part of a program studying renewable energy in Iceland. In the Westfjords we hoped to see how energy principles we had learned about elsewhere were actually applied. The program was a great success; the small scale and accessibility of the area make it an ideal setting for such a study. The University Centre did a great job organizing the program, local people were very friendly and available to our students, and of course the scenery Is spectacular. We will be returning to the Westijords in the future." Dave Timmons Academic Director World Learning, SIT Study Abroad Program "Students participating In the Icelandic Field School 2007 (a summer course organized by the Department of Icelandic Language and literature, University of Manitoba, In cooperation with the University of Iceland and the University Centre of the Westfjords), traveled around the country, spending time in Reykjavik, in the Westfjords, up north and in the East Fjords. They did not hesitate when rating their experience In the Westfjords as the highlight of the summer course. As the organizer of the IFS, I fully agree with the students, thanks to the exceptionally professional, profound and creative cooperation with the University Centre of the Westfjords."
