How to make a Wire Toy Car With Solomon from Uganda

Materials you need Scissors, pliers, hammer, a nail, thick & thin wire, small & large bottle tops, inner-tubes and a stick.

Bend the shape Bend the long wire into two car shapes.

Cut the rubber Cut the inner-tube into several lengths of rubber.

Join the wire Use the rubber to wrap the wire together and then tie off.

Make cross struts Cut and bend twelve cross struts to span the two car shapes.

Tie cross struts Use the rubber to tie the cross struts, spanning the two car shapes.

Adjust car shape Bend and adjust the shape of your car so it’s just right.

Horizontal struts Add window struts across the length of each side of the car.

Vertical struts Add vertical window struts to the horizontal struts.

Rear axle holes Bend and make rear axle hole shapes.

Front axle holes Bend and make front axle hole shapes.

Add axle holes Add the axle holes to the appropriate ends of the car.

Makes holes Use the hammer and nail to make holes in all of the bottle tops and lids.

Build wheels (one side only) Slide a bottle top, then a lid, then another bottle top onto axles, securing with rubber.

Add rear axle Thread rear axle into hole and then add second wheel onto the axle.

Build steering column Bend wire to make a hole and attach to stick with rubber.

Add front axle Thread front axle through axle holes and steering column, then add last wheel.

Make steering wheel Bend the steering wheel and add rubber to join the wire ends.

Add steering wheel Attach steering wheel to the stick (steering column) with rubber.

Add rubber buffers Tie rubber to the front axle either side of the steering column to aid steering.

Have fun! Now take your car out for a drive and steer it around.
