NOTICE OF STUDY COMMENCEMENT Detail Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment Highway 77 Resurfacing from Essex Road 46 to Highway 401 Town of Lakeshore, County of Essex G.W.P. 3072-12-00 THE STUDY The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained HDR Corporation (HDR) to conduct a Detail Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment for the pavement resurfacing of Highway 77 from Essex Road 46 to Highway 401 (1.8 km) in the community of Comber, Town of Lakeshore, County of Essex as shown on the map. This study includes: Changes to the operation of the Highway 77/Middle Road (Essex Road 46) Intersection; Approach repair at the Highway 401 Comber Side Road Underpass on Highway 77; Ramp paving of the Eastbound Highway 401 ramp; Highway drainage improvements (including curb and gutter, culvert and storm sewer repairs/replacements); and Illumination replacements.
THE PROCESS The study will follow the approved planning process for Group “C” projects under the MTO Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000). Upon completion of the study, an Environmental Screening Document (ESD) documenting the process and results of the detail design study will be prepared and filed with MTO. It is anticipated that construction will begin in the spring of 2017 and last for one construction season. COMMENTS We are interested in any comments you may have about the study. Comments and information regarding this study are being collected to assist the project team in meeting the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act. Information will be collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. With the exception of personal information, all comments will become part of the public record. Comments would be appreciated by May 23, 2016.
