Obamacare Consolidation Means Higher Prices President Obama has said Obamacare will bend the cost curve down. This is a well-constructed lie. The law is designed to consolidate the health care system into a few players. The fewer the players, the less the competition and the higher the prices. A new study shows how hospital purchases of physician practices under Obamacare’s Accountable Care Organization provision is already increasing prices and spending by privately insured patients. One of the study’s co-authors says, “The message from the study confirms that when doctors and hospitals merge it may not be in consumers’ best interest.” True, but it is in the government’s interest.
