Clinic Goes Cash Only Two physician practices in the Twin Cities of Minnesota are making a break for freedom. They are cutting the ties to health insurance and doing what they do best: taking care of patients. Most doctors are tying themselves to large health systems and losing their independence. But these doctors are going free. They will still accept Medicare, but they will no longer accept payments from any insurance company. Patients will pay them directly. Insurers donʼt like it because they lose control of doctors, but patients should be happy. Costs are less and care is customized. 4,400 doctors are doing direct payment.
