Are Birth Control Pills Insurable Events Whatever your position on birth control, the media is laserfocused on making sure an Obamacare replacement plan includes birth control. As a reminder, insurance is not for routine or minor expenses. It’s for catastrophes but because it’s morphed into a third-party payment system for all health care expenses, including birth control, the price of “insurance” today is far higher and scarier than it should be. Few people have catastrophic medical needs so they’re paying through the nose for something they rarely use. Birth control pills cost $15 to $50 or less a month. That’s the cost of a fast-food date at Culvers or two movie tickets and dinner.
