Health Freedom Minute October 20, 2010

Animal Farm* Health Care Welcome to the Health Freedom Minute. This is Twila Brase president of Citizensʼ Council on Health Care. McDonaldʼs and 29 other companies are exempt from ObamaCare coverage requirements until 2014. McDonaldʼs has a mini-med program. The program does not meet the lawʼs new requirements. McDonaldʼs told federal officials they might drop the program if they didnʼt receive an exemption from the minimum annual benefit requirement. They wanted 115,000 workers exempted. The federal government only exempted the 30,000 in McDonaldʼs mini-med program. In New York, 351,000 members of a teacherʼs union were exempted. In all, nearly one million workers were told they donʼt have to follow the law or pay the high price of compliance. Take note. You are probably not one of them. As in Animal Farm*, it appears all people are equal, but some people are more equal than others. Listen again at healthfreedomminute.net. “McDonaldʼs, 29 other firms get health care coverage waivers.” Drew Armstrong (Bloomberg Business News). USA TODAY. October 7, 2010. *This is a correction from the recorded version.
