When Will Obamacare Premiums Skyrocket? Everything thatʼs happening today in health insurance premiums is a smokescreen. Democrats in Congress and Obama knew people would immediately oppose the law if they saw it price health insurance out of existence. So for the first three years of the law, they made sure no one would see behind the curtain. The law subsidizes insurers through two programs. Under reinsurance, taxpayers pay all medical costs of Obamacare patients over $45,000. Under risk corridors, Obama takes money from insurers with the least expensive enrollees and gives it to those with the most expensive enrollees. These two programs disappear at the end of 2016, and the real cost of insurance under Obamacare will be revealed…right before the 2016 election. “The Lull Before the Obamacare Rate Storm,” Stephen T.
