Medicare for All — Limiting Medication Options
In segment 19 of Medicare for All let’s discuss drugs. Prices for covered medications, medical supplies and technologies and medically-necessary equipment would be negotiated by the Secretary. Notice, this will only be for whatever the Secretary chooses to cover and thinks is medically necessary. Whatever you need might not be on that list, and if it doesn’t make the list, it will eventually disappear. If the Secretary can’t get the manufacturer to lower the price, the Secretary would be allowed to use federal force to give the manufacturing rights of that drug to another manufacturer and provide some level of compensation to the drug company that refused to cooperate. Unbelievable.
