Message:

Greet One Another, being friendly

Bible Reference: Romans 16 Cast:

Person (male or female) Greeter (male or female) 2 other persons, who can just be people chosen in the audience. Preferably, you talk to them before the presentation, however, since there are no lines, you may want to choose them as the Person walks in.

Sound:

Wireless microphone for Person Hand-held microphone for Greeter

Time:

4 minutes

Script: Person (off Stage): Often times our greetings comes with a smile, but they don’t reflect what is in our heart. Hear one woman’s thought while she is greeting her church family. Person comes in. Person (stream-of-consciousness) I am so glad to be here this morning. I have to tell Earlene all the good news. Oh, there’s Deacon ______, I suppose I should speak to him – he is after all a deacon. But he gets no hug from me this time – I’m too busy. Person (talk) Hello Deacon ______________, how are you? I wish I could give you a hug, but I have a slight cough. (coughs) God bless you. Person (stream-of-consciousness) Great that’s over. Oh, look there is Rev. _________. I know she’s going to ask me to come out to her program – I don’t want to be there, I think I’ll try to escape her as quickly as possible. Person (talk) Wish I could talk, Rev. _______. So busy – you know. God bless you. Person (stream-of-consciousness) That wasn’t to hard to avoid. Ugh, there are so many people in my way. I’ve got to get to Earlene to tell her the latest I heard about the Director of Music Ministry. She’ll be so mad. Oh, no there’s Ms. _________. I really can’t stand her. I just head for the bathroom. (ducks and turns around and goes another direction) Whew, that was a close one. Uh, oh, Greet One Another Page 1 Copyright Sheila Arnold, published with permission by DramaShare 2004

here comes ______________________. She’s (He’s) always so pleasant on Sunday morning like she (he) really wants to be here. Greeter:

Hello, Sheila (use actual name of Person) (Greeter gives Person a hug.) I hope you’re doing well? You look great!

Person (talk) I’m doin’ alright. Greeter:

I’m thrilled that you’re here at church – what a great day to praise God!

(stream-of-consciousness) Whatever! Greeter:

Oh, the prelude is playing let me get in.

Person (stream-of-consciousness) Finally she leaves! Greeter:

Time greet God now.

Person (stream-of-consciousness) Who? Greeter:

God bless you, Sheila. (again use real name of Person. Greeter sits down.)

Person (talk) Oh, yes and you, too. Person (stream-of-consciousness) Why is she always so personable, open and….and loving. It’s just church. Well, let me get to my pew before someone takes it. (starts to leave) But, you know I have to admit, after SHE (HE) greets me I always want to come back to the house of God. Person (talk, out of earshot) God bless you, too, ______…and this time I mean it. THE END
