Kenner Lunch Bunch
At our last general membership meeting we decided to meet for lunch in and around the Kenner area. We will call this Kenner Lunch Bunch. This month we decided to meet at Stingray’s Restaurant for 11:30 a.m. Stingray’s is located at 1303 W.Esplanade Ave. Enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow GO members, make new friends and enjoy your old friends! Please RSVP January 20, 2016(Wednesday and Thursday: Paragon Casino and Resort The Paragon Casino trip will be an overnight trip. We will have the Hotard motor coach pick up at 9:00 a.m. from our Ochsner Kenner members and carry on to pick up our Ochsner River Parish members. We will be off to a relaxing drive to the “Pearl of Louisiana” Paragon Casino in Marksville, LA Check-in is at 4:00 p.m.. Each passenger’s luggage will be stored until rooms are ready. Check-out on Thursday, January 21, 2016 will be at 11:00 a.m. Luggage to be placed outside your door at 10:00 a.m. to be delivered to the motor coach. We will depart at 11:00 a.m. We will stop for lunch on our way home. The cost of this excursion is $45 double occupancy and $65 for single occupancy. Please see the flyer for additional information. Road Trip to Pointe Coupee
We will take a leisure road trip to Pointe Coupee Parish which was founded in 1699. We will visit the False River area, and see the many points of interest. Lunch on your own at Satterfield’s Restaurant, which sits on the False River. There are many small antique, boutiques shops in the area. Ochsner bus will pick up at Ochsner Kenner in front of the hospital at 10:00 a.m. We will then proceed to Ochsner River Parish and pick up at 10:30 a.m. It should take us approximately 1 hour to arrive at Pointe Coupee. We will have a stop along the way. The cost of our road trip will be $10. Please RSVP

Monday, January 18, 2016 is Martin Luther King Day. Upcoming events: February 12, 2016 (Friday): A Day at the Races. Cost will be $45 which will include lunch and transportation by an Ochsner bus. More information to follow. February 25, 2016 (Thursday): Road trip to Avery Island. Pick up at Ochsner Kenner at 9:30 a.m. then to River Parish pick up at 10 a.m. Then we will start our leisure trip to Avery Island. There is much to see and do at Avery Island, such as, touring the Tabasco museums, viewing of the pepper plants, how Tabasco is made, bottled, labeled, packing and distribution. The bottle labels are printed in 19 non-English languages, and distributed all over the world. Lunch on your own at the Pearl House Restaurant in New Iberia which is a short drive from Avery Island. Important Notice: In an effort to streamline the operations of our program, effective immediately the annual renewal fee of $10.00 will be due on January 1 st of each year regardless of the month you joined. If you renewed your membership between January and July of 2015, you will need to send in 2016 renewal fees of $10.00 by 1/1/16. If your renewal date is currently July 1st to December 31st and you paid those dues, they will be applied to 2016, making your revised renewal date 1/1/17. Remember: If you do not pay your dues you may not be able to participate in our activities. Brent House Hotel: The Brent House which is located at the main campus of Ochsner on Jefferson Highway is available to our Golden Opportunity members at a 20% discounted rate. When making reservations please ask for your discount.
