February 2017 Calendar of Events Kenner/River Regions February 9, 2017 (Thursday): General Membership Meeting (River Parish) Please join us at our General Membership Meeting it will be held in the Medical Office Bldg. 3rd floor Conference Room at 12 noon. Our guest speaker will be Dr. M. Feldman, Arthritis Specialist. Dr. Feldman will speak about the different types of arthritis, current research of the disease, and how to cope with arthritis. RSVP REQUIRED February 16, 2017 (Thursday) Annadele’s Plantation Restaurant Please join us on a bus trip to Annadele’s Plantation Restaurant. Dating back nearly two centuries, Annadele’s Plantation is a place where time stands still-a serene environment that allows you to take a deep breath and just relax. From the meticulously maintained grounds and cozy bed and breakfast to the popular New Orleans-style restaurant, Annadele’s provides the perfect backdrop for our Golden Opportunity Day Trip. Cost is $35.00 which will cover lunch and transportation. The Ochsner Bus will pick up from Ochsner River Parish at 9:30 a.m. it will then pick up from Ochsner Kenner at 10:00 a.m. RSVP REQUIRED

Our guest speaker will be Madelyn Feldman, R.N. who will speak to us about “Arthritis.” Learn about the different types of arthritis, new research/technology and suggestions as to how to live with arthritis. Upcoming Events March 14, 2017 (Tuesday) “National Seelos Shrine & The Seelos Center”, Superior Seafood Restaurant and Riverwalk Outlet Shopping Please join us as we travel the Blessed Seelos Center. You will be inspired by this Redemptorist priest who was beatified by Pope John Paul II in the Solemn Jubilee Year 2000. Father Seelos possessed great mystical gifts due to his intense prayer life. His dedication to ministry with cheerful holiness makes him still an outstanding model for clergy, religious and laity alike. As a traveling preacher and lifelong friend of the poor and destitute, Seelos was a spiritual father to tens of thousands. Despite his early death at age 48, so profound was his missionary zeal that sickness, persecution, and even the upheaval caused by a civil war could not stop him. Following our tour, we will travel to Superior Seafood on St. Charles Ave. for lunch. Please indicate your entrée’ choice on your check, or when you register. Donations accepted. 1. Shrimp and Grits (sautéed shrimp in a tasso cream sauce served over superior grits) 2. Tchoupitoulas Chicken (grilled chicken topped with crawfish tasso cream sauce and smoked mozzarella cheese served with grilled asparagus and whipped potatoes) 3. Blackened Fish Napoleon (fresh fish filet blackened, topped with crawfish etouffee served with whipped potatoes and corn maque choux) We will pick up Ochsner River Parishes at 9:00 a.m. and travel to Ochsner Kenner Medical Center for pickup at 9:30 a.m. Cost $35.00 to include transportation and lunch. North Shore Natchez Spring Pilgrimage , April 12 &13. Home tours include Choctaw Hall, Burn, Twin Oaks & Longwood. Lunch at Cotton Alley. April 2017 Jefferson Island/Rip Van Winkle Gardens, New Iberia, LA This will be an overnight trip to New Iberia. We will have several excursions which will be announced in our next newsletter. **A dedicated telephone line has been set up with Ochsner Scheduling Department for GO members to schedule medical appointments without any delays.
