May 4 (Wednesday): GO Meeting “Coffee with Christie: “Knitted Knockers*” Presented by Deanna Nettles and Judy Pennison from the Ochsner Lieselotte Tansey Breast Center, Ochsner Health CenterCOVINGTON, 2nd floor Training Room, 10:00 am to 11:30 am. RSVP REQUIRED May 5 (Thursday): GO Meeting “Coffee with Christie: “Knitted Knockers*” Presented by Deanna Nettles and Judy Pennison from the Ochsner Ochsner Tansey Breast Center, Ochsner Medical Center-North Shore, 100 Medical Center Drive, Camellia Room, SLIDELL, 9:30 am to 11:00 am. RSVP REQUIRED * Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast. Traditional breast prosthetics are usually expensive, heavy, sweaty and uncomfortable. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. `` May 11 (Wednesday): Bus trip to the Angola Penitentiary. Our visit includes a guided bus tour and visit to the museum followed by lunch at Magnolia Café in St. Francisville. Pick up in Hammond. $55 pp RSVP REQUIRED May 19 (Thursday): LUNCH AND LEARN “Understanding Healthcare Options” presented by Timothy Riddell, M.D. Department of Primary Care. Ochsner Health Center-COVINGTON, 2nd floor Training Room, 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. RSVP REQUIRED May 25 (Wednesday): All Aboard the Amtrak to Meridian! We will depart from the Slidell Amtrak station at 7:57am and enjoy the scenery along the way until our arrival in Meridian, MS. Lunch will be at Weidmann’s, followed by a tour of MSU’s Riley Center Grand Opera House. Arrival time back to Slidell is 6:13pm. Transportation to the depot is on your own. Upcoming Events: Concerns about Falling? A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. Peoples Health will conduct the program on each of the following dates from 10:00am to Noon, Ochsner Medical Center-North Shore, 100 Medical Center Drive, Camellia Room, SLIDELL, from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. RSVP REQUIRED. Class is limited! Attendees must commit to at least 7 sessions. Mondays - April 25, May 2, May 9, May 16, June 6, June 13, June 20, June 27 June 7 – Amtrak to Meridian! (Trip #2) Includes rail transportation from Slidell, tour of MSU Riley Center’s Grand Opera House and lunch at Weidmann’s. $95p. Registration begins immediately. **A dedicated telephone line has been set up with Ochsner Scheduling Department for GO members to schedule medical appointments without any delays. The number is: 985-871-2546 (CALL GO). **When a fee is involved, it must be received within 5 days of making the reservation to confirm your seat. If not received, your seat will be filled by another member. Please check availability with the GO office before mailing a check. All trips are non-refundable. Every attempt will be made to sell your seat to someone on the waiting list if you need to cancel. YOU ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR THE EVENT UNTIL THE CHECK IS RECEIVED. IMPORTANT NOTE: In an effort to streamline the operations of the program, effective immediately the annual renewal fees of $10.00 will be due on January 1 of each year regardless of the month you joined. If you renewed your membership between January 1 and June 30 of 2015, you will need to send in 2016 renewal fees of $10.00 by 2/1/16. If your renewal date is currently July 1 to December 31 and you paid those dues, they will be applied to 2016, making your revised renewal date 1/1/17.
