Generator Requirements In general our office will need 1-2 days advance notice for schedule inspections. On occasions the inspection may not be able to be scheduled for several days, depending on the time of year and the current work load. This document is to be used as a gui8de only and cannot possibly cover all situations, nor is it intended to do so. Type, make and model of the transfer switch to be installed. Type, make and model of the generator to be installed along with the spec sheet with the clearance requirements. If an automatic transfer switch is to be installed, an electrical load calculation is required in order to show compliance with the capacity and rating requirements of section 702.4 of the 2011 National Electrical Code. Wiring diagram to show, in detail, the location of the new and existing equipment, transfer switch location (before or after the main), wiring sizes and methods. If a whole house transfer switch is being proposed to be installed ahead of the current main disconnect, details on the grounding and bonding arrangement are to be provided.

1. Never use your generator inside your home, basement, garage or any other partially enclosed area 2. Always run generator outside of the building, away from doors, vents, and windows 3. It is recommended that a CO detector be installed within the home. Some generator manufacturers require the installation of a CO detector as part of their installation instructions. 4. Never refuel your generator while it is running, or is hot. Shut it off and let it cool down before you refuel it. 5. Store fuel away from the generator and any other sources of ignition
