Technology Integration Workshop 2016 Unit Title: Generating Ideas Grade Level: (example: 9, 10, 11, 12 or 7-8) 9-12 Subject Area: (example: Science, Physics; English, Short Stories) Visual Art/all areas Duration/Length/Number of class periods: (example: 5 class periods) 5 class periods Description: Students will use many different strategies to help them generate ideas for their art projects. Established Goals (National, State, Local): National Visual Art Standards Anchor Standard: 1. Generate and conceptualize artistic ideas and work. Performance Standard VA:Cr1.1.la Use multiple approaches to begin creative endeavors.

What Enduring Understandings are desired? Creativity and innovative thinking are essential life skills that can be developed. What Essential Questions will be considered? 1. What conditions, attitudes, and behaviors support creativity and innovative thinking? 2. What factors prevent or encourage people to take creative risks? 3. How does collaboration expand the creative process? Students will know / be able to: Originality: Students will use their own reference photos. Composition: Students will use editing apps to consider multiple composition options. Elements and Principles: Students will use editing apps to alter colors, lines, values...creating a stronger, more interesting, idea for their art work.

Description

Units must include at least one of each formative, summative, introductory activity and learning activity. Check the appropriate box; one per row.

Students brainstorm ideas for taking reference photos. USE PADLET

Students choose a reference photo for their art. Students edit photos considering: composition, focal point, elements (color, value, line, texture, form, space, shape), principles (balance, contrast, emphasis, pattern, unity, variety, movement). Students use Kahoot to check for understanding of elements and principles, composition and appropriate use of reference photos.
