Garageband Instructions for Students TO BEGIN: 1. Open Garageband my clicking on the guitar symbol at the bottom of the screen. 2. Choose ‘New Music Project’. 3. Save as: Your name and poem (Ex: Mrs. Smith’s poem). 4. Click on the eyeball in the bottom left corner. 5. Choose a beat/instrument/genre of music by clicking on the one you like. 6. Drag it up to the green ‘grand piano’ track. 7. Stretch the music out so it is a little bit longer. 8. To listen to the track push play. TO ADD A NEW TRACK: 9. Click the plus sign in the bottom left hand corner. 10.You can pick the eyeball again and add another pre-made melody. OR: 11.Choose software instrument click create. 12.Click on the new grand piano picture. 13. On the right hand side you will see a list of instruments. 14.Choose any instrument you want. 15.Look at the apple menu at the very top of your screen. Click on window, then keyboard. 16.Add the notes you want to your song. TO RECORD YOUR VOICE/POEM: 17.Add another track by clicking the plus sign. 18. Choose Real Instrument and click create. 19.Click on the picture of the speaker. 20. Press the red record button. 21. Say your poem into the microphone. TO DELETE SOMETHING YOU DON’T LIKE:

22.Click the picture on the track you want to delete, and push delete. 23. If you delete something on accident click edit on the apple menu and click undo. TO ADD THE WORDS TO YOUR POEM: 24. Click on Keynote (the wooden podium at the bottom of your screen.) 25. Choose a background/theme, click choose. 26. Click in the box and write your poem. 27. Add a picture if you want by TO ADD A PICTURE TO YOUR POEM: 28. Go the Internet. 29. Type in www.google.com 30. Click images. (Be sure you are careful to pick an appropriate search and contact your teacher immediately if something is wrong) 31. Find the picture you want and DRAG it to your poem. TO PUT YOUR SLIDE IN GARAGEBAND: 32. Find the mini version of your slide on the left hand side. 33. Drag it into Garageband and put it in a new track.
