Dear 7th and 8th graders, At the end of this school year, Principal Stevens will retire from the Edgartown School. Shortly after the break, three principal finalists will be visiting the school and participating in an open interview, which students, staff, parents, and community members are welcome to attend. Being an active citizen (in the country, state, and school) is a very important responsibility. We hope that you consider attending the interviews to hear from the prospective candidates. Your input is very important! The interview dates are as follows: Shelley Einbinder-Fleischmann will be visiting on March 5, Shaun Johnson on March 6, and Kate Lefer on March 12. All open interviews will take place at the school from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Extra credit is rarely offered, but we fully believe that your attendance and feedback are of the utmost importance and in exchange for your participation, we are offering the following: Attending one interview and writing a summary*-- five points will be added to your next test/quiz in Social Studies and 5 points on your next ELA project Attending two interviews and writing a summary*-- five points will be added to your next test/quiz in Social Studies and your lowest grade from a homework assignment (not a project) will be raised to full credit in ELA and Social Studies. Attending all three interviews, writing a paper** and creating a video reflection-- your overall average will be increased by a half a letter grade in ELA and Social Studies.
