“My Story” Because Everyone Matters Pediatricians have an important role in working with foster children and their families as they make the transition from a child’s biological home into a foster home. Not only are pediatricians looked to for help in caring for the medical needs of the child, but they are also looked to for help in making the home transition easier for the well-being of the child. More details. In an effort to give Ohio’s foster children a voice, and a chance to tell their story, the Ohio AAP and the Ohio AAP Foundation have developed the “My Story” Foster Care Program, a new program to address the special social and emotional needs of foster care children and families. The Ohio AAP and the Ohio AAP Foundation plan to pilot this program in central Ohio in early 2009, and then expand the program throughout the state. A drive to collect items that can be put into bags for these foster children is under way (see wish list below). For more information, please contact Melissa Arnold, [email protected], or Heather Hall [email protected], or call (614) 846-6258.
