Allegany County Solid Waste User Fee/Identification Tag Information
1. A valid identification tag allows a person to dispose of acceptable solid waste and recyclables at certain Allegany County Solid Waste Facilities. Waste disposed of must be generated in Allegany County. You must reside in Allegany County at the address shown on this application or own a seasonal residence to qualify for a residential tag. If you own property on which you do not reside or which is vacant land, you are entitled to a disposal ticket or may dispose of waste directly at the Allegany County Landfill and pay the current tipping fee. 2. Three types of tags are available: Residential Tag: is for the person who takes waste from the home in which he lives to a transfer station or County Landfill. The user fee is $150.00 per year paid in full when the tag is obtained. This tag is not prorated. A separate Recycling Tag is not needed with this tag. Replacement fee for lost/stolen tag is $100.00. Recycling Tag: this type of tag can ONLY be used for recyclables and no user fee is charged to obtain this tag. Disposal Ticket: is offered in 3 denominations which are $10, $20, $30 tickets. Each ticket that will be marked off by the transfer station operator to correspond with the price of the item (s) disposed of. No residential tag is needed for this option. No refunds for unused tickets or portions of tickets. Up to 13 gallon bag- $1.00 Up to 30 gallon bag- $3.00 Up to 55 gallon bag- $5.00 Small items (chair, table, toilet, sink, other smaller furniture, etc…) $4.00 Large items (couch, mattress or box springs, cabinet/dresser, carpet roll, etc…) $5.00 3. The identification tag is issued to the person completing the application and is non-transferable. It can be used in any vehicle. Members of your immediate household can also use your identification tag. 4. Instructions for obtaining an Identification Tag: a. Applications are available at the Department of Public Works office in Belmont, all Transfer Stations, County Landfill, on the internet at www.alleganyco.com or can be obtained by calling 585268-9403. b. Mail application and user fee, if any, for all Identification Tags (cash, check payable to “Allegany County” or Visa/MasterCard/Discover for any user fee) to the following address: Allegany County DPW 7 Court Street, Room 210 Belmont, NY 14813 c. You can obtain your Identification Tag in person at the Allegany County DPW Office at 7 Court Street, Room 210, Belmont; County Landfill 6006 County Road 48, Angelica; Office of Aging, 6085 State Route 19N, Belmont; County Treasurer’s Office, County Courthouse, Belmont; or the Town of Wellsville, 156 Main Street, Wellsville. Note: Town of Wellsville does NOT accept Credit Cards; if paying by check at the Town of Wellsville, make check payable to the town. d. If you own property but your name does not appear on the tax rolls, please give the name of the property owner that pays the taxes. e. If you rent you must provide proof of your residence such as a utility bill, rent receipt, or driver’s license that shows the street address. A post office box is not an acceptable address for proving residence.
