NCAE Law conference 2013: Take the lead, Meet the challenge – Together Saturday November 16, 2013 9:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. NCAE Headquarters Building, Raleigh, NC Join NCAE’s legal team in exploring hot topics including: Implementation of public school legislation including master’s degree pay, 4-year contracts to 25% of teachers, changes to employee rights, school improvement plan changes, funding and other changes that affect the classroom and educational opportunities for children NCAE litigation strategies to address the General Assembly taking career status from veteran teachers Advocacy sessions to address high stakes evaluations, advocating for educators and students, promoting the effective use of school improvement teams, and influencing local board policies The parameters of activism – what you can and cannot do to influence your administration, colleagues, and elected officials while on or off the clock The $35 registration fee for NCAE members will be refunded following attendance at the conference. As a condition to receiving this rebate, you must commit to go to your school’s website and find the names of the school improvement team members and their positions and the dates of their election. (Note: by change in law, this information must be posted on school websites effective the beginning of the 2013-2014 school year.) You also must agree to review your school’s school improvement plan to note its strengths and weaknesses. Please complete the assignment prior to the conference. Participants are encouraged to bring a copy of their plan with the for taking notes during the conference.
