5 June 2015 Dear Parents/Carers I am writing to you with news and updates for you and our pupils for the second half of the summer term. Inspire and Achieve Awards Evening Invites have been sent out to all pupils who have received an award that will be presented at our Awards Evening on Tuesday 14 July. Please can replies be returned to the school office by 23 June. Challenge Chair of Governors I also write to advise you that Mr Bill Evans has informed the Governing Body that he wishes to resign as Chair of Governors at Wellfield with immediate effect. Mr Evans has made this decision due to personal circumstances and other commitments he has at this time. I know that we would all like to express sincere thanks to Mr Evans for all his work and support over the years. His commitment to the pupils, parents and staff at Wellfield has been outstanding and his achievements as Chair of Governors commendable. We wish him well for the future. Mrs Anne Brown will be Acting Chair until the annual nominations and elections in the autumn term. Proposed Change to School Session Times Following my last newsletter (22 May 2015) I announced that the Governors have made a proposal to change the school session times from September 2015. The Governors also offered to hold a meeting for parents on the proposed changes on Monday 8 June at 4 p.m. in our Sports Hall. Alternatively, if you would like to submit any view in writing on the proposed changes then email
[email protected] by Friday 19 June. If you are intending to attend the above Governors meeting please can you inform the school either by phone or email (email address above) so that we can ensure adequate seating for parents. When you attend please make your way directly to the Sports Hall. Duke of Edinburgh Our Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award pupils will be taking part in their assessed expedition on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June. Pupils will be receiving details today of this expedition. There will be a Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) information evening for parents of pupils in Year 9, on Thursday 25 June at 6 p.m. in the Theatre. Please feel free to come along and ask any questions or raise any concerns you may have regarding the Award.

Nurture Leyland Festival Another reminder that the Leyland Festival is taking over Worden Park on Saturday 20 June. The school will be there joining in the 60’s / 70’s theme so please come along and say hello and take part in some of the activities we will have on offer, including a costume photobooth, Bat the Rat, Play your Cards Right and themed children’s face painting.
