Instructions for the authors (See the first issues of the journal for an application of these instructions)

(Please follow the instructions with great care: a journal’s publication is at stake, if your article has to be re-formatted, it delays the entire issue). Papers should not exceed 7500 words. The abstract (200 words maximum) and the keywords (5 maximum) are in English and in French. The title is followed by the name, surname, position, affiliation, and address of the author. It is imperative that authors remove from their submissions any further information that could identify them or their affiliations to reviewers. The scientific secretary will also ensure that the manuscript is anonymous before sending it for peer-review. All correspondence, including notification of the Editor’s decision and requests for revisions, are sent by email.

Font: Submit the text in Times New Roman Normal text should be in character 11 Long quotes, if a separate paragraph, should be in character 10 Notes should be in character 9 The bibliography should be in character 9

Notes: Caution: Please use notes as little as possible (10 at maximum), as they complicate the uploading of the text considerably. In particular, do note place references in notes (see below instructions on bibliography).

Lines: - there should be one line left blank before each title of subtitle (including introduction, conclusion and bibliography) - do not leave a blank line after the title or subtitle - do not leave blank lines between paragraphs

1

- leave a blank line before and after each illustration

Section titles: There are two levels of section titles (the highest is bold character 12, the second is bold character 11)

Illustrations: Please pay particular attention to the quality of illustrations as this is necessary to allow for good editorial work. Please take into account the journal’s constraints (online publication with downloadable pdf, and bilingual publication).

For the online publication of your article: You have to provide a text-only version of your article, properly formatted (with clear instructions about the location of illustrations). Illustrations should be provided separately, in .jpg or .gif format (see below for further specifications for illustrations).

For the downloadable pdf of your article: You have to provide a second version of your article, with all illustrations and captions. You decide on the size and outlay of illustrations. This version also has to be formatted in word.

Captions of maps and illustrations in two languages Each illustration or figure should have a title and legend, and specify author and date. Titles should be numbered (with different numbers for maps, photos, and other figures). The journal takes care of the translation of your paper.

2

BUT you will be expected to take care of the translation of the legend/key of the maps and figures: the journal cannot undertake the translation of the text elements in image formats. Please send us all figures in two versions (one in English and one in French). In some instances it may be sufficient to use two legends (one in each language) on a single map or figure.

Pictures, audio and video files

All illustrations should be sent as separate files and their exact location should be indicated in the text. The journal welcomes complementary materials. Complementary materials should be directly related to the article. Complementary files will be subjected to peer-review alongside the article. Complementary files will not be checked for accuracy, copyedited, typeset or proofread. The responsibility for scientific accuracy and file functionality remains with the authors. The journal cannot provide technical support for the creation of complementary material.

Pictures, audio and video files formats The graphic files must be submitted with the article, clearly identified, to allow easy insertion into the article, and of sufficient quality to allow the display (the theoretical limit is 64 MB for pictures, 150 MB for audio and video files). Pictures (maps, graphs, photography…): .jpg and .gif Audio format: .mp3 .aac and .wma Video formats: maximum resolution 640 x 480 pixels, 25 frames / second, 150 Mo maximum per file (the document can be made of more than one file), .mov .mp4 and .avi formats. All video clips must be created with commonly-used codec, and the codec used should be noted in the complementary material legend. Video files should be tested for playback before submission, preferably on computers not used for its creation, to check for any compatibility issues.
