Natchez Steamboat Jazz Lunch and Cruise
Come with us aboard the Natchez Steamboat for a Jazz Cruise and a buffet lunch. The Natchez Steamboat is the ninth steamer to bear the name NATCHEZ. She has never been beaten in a race. It’s a line that follows the course of river history, from the placid antebellum plantation era through the turbulence of the Civil War to the Gay Nineties, and, ultimately, the new millennium. The NATCHEZ calliope trills a melody into the air while the great wheel, 25 tons of white oak churns the heavy waters of the great Mississippi River. So come along and step back in time aboard this magnificent steamboat. Our bus will pick up at Ochsner Kenner Medical Center at 9:30 a.m. and return at 3:00 p.m. The cost is $55.00, this includes transportation, buffet lunch, jazz entertainment and a short river cruise.

October 28, 2015 (Wednesday): An Overview of Complimentary Therapies Have you been curious about aromatherapy, Chinese medicine, Tai Chi-chi or massage? Learn how aromatherapy can enhance relaxation and healing. Learn how Chinese medicine looks at the human body and healing and learn a few moves of TAI CHI Chi for balance and health. Our guest speaker will be Sister Monica Gundler; SC (a Catholic Nun), a licensed massage therapist with certification in Thai Massage. 12 Noon in the Medical Office Building, 7th floor Board Room. You will enjoy a great view of Lake Pontchartrain. And, especially enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow Golden Opportunity friends. We will be traveling by Ochsner bus. The bus will leave Ochsner Kenner at 10:00 a.m. and arrive at Ochsner River Parish at approx. 10:45 a.m. We will arrive at Frenier Restaurant at 11:00 a.m. The bus will leave Frenier at 1:00 p.m. for Ochsner River Parish. November 13, 2015 (Friday): Lunch at the LePavillon Hotel) Ochsner Bus will leave Ochsner River Parish Medical Office Building at 10:00 a.m. and then pick up at Ochsner Kenner Medical Center. We will then depart for the Le Pavillon Hotel at 11:00 a.m. We will depart the LePavillon at 1:00 p.m. and then depart for the River Walk where we can shop or enjoy the Mississippi River as the ships roll along. We will return to Ochsner Kenner at 3:00 p.m. and proceed to the Ochsner River Parish at 3:45 p.m. The estimated cost of this trip will be $55.00 The Le Pavillon is most often referred to as the “Belle of New Orleans.” The buffet is one-of-a-kind! Please RSVP with what you plan to bring. Announcements: Membership Renewals & Cards: Have you checked your card lately? Renewals are $10 per year. If your membership with GO has lapsed for 2 years or more you will be required to “re-join” the program at the existing membership rate of $25 (member) and $40 (member and spouse). If you do not renew your membership you will not be allowed to register or participate in any event and/or trips if your membership is not up-to-date. Membership replacement cards are $5.00. Will review membership of Ochsner River Parish members and Kenner members in October, 2015. Will send out letters notifying GO members of their membership status. When a fee is involved, it must be received within 5 days of making the reservation to confirm your seat. Please check availability with the GO office before mailing a check. All trips are non-refundable. Every attempt will be made to sell your seat to someone on the waiting list if you must cancel. YOU ARE NOT SCHEDULED FOR THE EVENT UNTIL THE CHECK IS RECEIVED.
