ABSTRACT

This study analysed the effect of pre - incubation storage periods on incubation weight loss and hatchability of broiler hatching eggs. A total of two hundred and forty broiler hatching eggs used for the experiment were grouped into four treatment

based on the length of storage (0, 4, 8, 12

days) arid each treatment contain sixty eggs. The result obtained for incubation weight loss and hatchability for all the treatments were subjected to one way analysis of variance. The values of incubation weight loss significantly (p<0.05) different and range from 9.06% (4 days storage) to 12.49% (8 days storage) and hatchability percentage ranged from 75.56% (12 days) to 90.94% (8 days storage) but not significantly

(p>0.05) different. It could be concluded that storage of

broiler hatching eggs should not be more than 8 days for effective hatchability.
