We will enjoy a great lunch along with the camaraderie of old friends! The garden will be in full bloom as we leisurely stroll along the many garden paths. If you have not had the pleasure of visiting Houmas House in the spring, you are in for a great treat. Lunch on your own. Please RSVP April 11, 2017: (Tuesday) General Membership Meeting for River Parish Michele Varon with Colonial Nursing/Rehab will give a talk on “Keeping your Mind Sharp.” She gave this talk at our Ochsner Kenner Meeting last year and everyone enjoyed the tips that were shared. We will meet in the Medical Office Bldg. 3rd floor Conference Room. We will begin at 12 noon, lunch will be served. April 20, 2017 (Thursday): Antiquing in Breaux Bridge Join us as we travel to Breaux Bridge and check out Buck & Johnny’s Restaurant. Lunch on your own. After lunch we will stroll to Lagniappe Antiques. Lagniappe is a 17,000 sq. ft. space with over 70 vendors with items to include antiques, collectible art, and many one of a kind pieces from local residents. We will travel by shuttle bus to pick up at Ochsner Kenner at 8:30 a.m., proceed to Ochsner River Parish to pick up at 9:00 a.m. Cost of the trip is $32.00 Please RSVP April 26, 2017 (Wednesday): General Membership Meeting (Kenner) Our guest speaker will be Ms. Michele Varon with Colonial Nursing/Rehab. The topic she will speak about will be “How to Effectively Manage Pain. “Our meeting will be held in the Conference Room on the 7th floor of the Medical Office Building. Lunch will be served. Upcoming Events May 5, 2017: (Friday) Breaux Bridge Crawfish Festival Crawfish Capital of the World’s festival has crawfish-based dishes, crawfish races, crawfish-eating contest, a crawfish etouffee cook-off and Cajun and zydeco dance contest, as well as arts and crafts booths. We will leave from Ochsner Kenner at 8:30 a.m.; proceed to Ochsner River Parish pick up at 9:00 a.m. The cost of this event will be in the next calendar of events. More exciting events in the making will be posted soon! If you are not receiving your Newsletter/Calendar of Events please notify Ann. We are very pleased to announce our Golden Fit Exercise Program. There will be no charge for the 12 week course. Ochsner Kenner will be participating in the Golden Fit program soon. We will meet in the Ochsner Kenner Fitness area in the Medical Office Bldg. 1st floor two times per week. If interested, please let me know. There is space for 20 members on a first come, first served basis. I do hope you will take advantage of this program. It will enable you to stay independent as long as possible. The program will begin in Kenner at the end of April. You will be notified as soon as the date and time is confirmed with the instructor.
