In this role in our Wellington office, you will be exposed to a variety of work, both in a group and individual therapeutic environment including: within the Women’s Strategy, Across Community Probation and Prison Services. Corrections’ new Women’s Strategy sets out a new approach for the way we manage women offenders. Wahine – E rere ana ki te pae hou, means women rising above the horizon. The initiatives outlined in the strategy will help women rise above their past, be open to new opportunities, and create a better life for themselves and their whanau. We provide Psychological assessments and treatment in Arohata Prison, the local Women’s Prison and in the community. Treatment consists of individual treatment or the four month Kowhiritanga group programme. Our psychologists undertake clinical assessments and treatment in prison and in the community, provide supervision, advice and training within Corrections and allied agencies, monitor the integrity of rehabilitation programmes and participate in service and research initiatives. Treatment provision includes group programmes for both sexual and violent offences. Our more experienced
psychologists completes assessments for the New Zealand Parole Board and the Court and could be asked to act as an Expert Witness.
