DESIGN APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM VII Student Application The National Building Museum is proud to present the Design Apprenticeship Program VII, the seventh in a series of short-term projects designed and built by local youth. Design Apprenticeship Program (DAP Squad) projects allow students to expand their design and art experience through hands-on projects that they control from concept to completion. Windows and Frames, the seventh DAP Squad project The seventh DAP Squad project focuses on window design and how windows have affected the spaces we inhabit. Participants will explore the construction of windows and how they are used to frame the world we live in. After a brief overview of window construction, participants will design and build a window to be displayed in a small exhibition that will be organized to complement the museum’s larger exhibition Picture This: Windows on the American Home, which will open in late March of 2003. Also, participants will get the opportunity to visit an architectural masterpiece within the metropolitan area. Program Location: Programs will take place in the second and third floor classrooms of the National Building Museum. Requirements: Enrollment for this program is limited to 20 students, aged 11 and older. Students must register for this program by Friday, March 14, 2003. Registration is free. Students must attend all sessions of the program. Program Dates: The programs five sessions are scheduled, Saturday April 5, April 12, April 26, May 3, and May 10, 2003. This program is offered in conjunction with the museum’s exhibition Picture This: Windows on the American Home, which opens on Thursday, March 29, 2003.
