Law Enforcement At Macomb Community College

A Commitment to Justice

If you want to make a positive change in the world and help people in need, you will find Law Enforcement to be an extremely rewarding profession. It is a physically and emotionally demanding field that requires a high level of skill, integrity and problem-solving ability. If you have a commitment to justice, Macomb’s Law Enforcement Program will help you become the police officer you want to be.

Macomb’s Law Enforcement Program

At Macomb, you have the options of earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Law Enforcement or in Law Enforcement with Police Academy. Certificates in Law Enforcement or Law Enforcement with Police Academy are also available. In your Law Enforcement courses at Macomb, you will learn about criminal law, current issues in policing, evidence and criminal procedures, investigation techniques and other facets of the law enforcement profession.

Learn from Police Veterans All of the members of Macomb’s Law Enforcement faculty have experienced the realities and legalities of police work firsthand. All are or have been law enforcement officers, many with command experience, and hold advanced degrees in law enforcement/criminal justice.

Beyond the Degree

Macomb’s Criminal Justice Training Center on East Campus provides current police officers with ongoing Advanced Police Training to enhance skills and/or prepare for promotion.

Transferring to a Bachelor’s Degree Program Students planning to transfer credits earned at Macomb to another college or university should see a counselor as early as possible in their college career. For information on Counseling and Academic Advising Services at Macomb, or for an appointment, call or visit:

Graduates of the program have been hired by law enforcement agencies at the municipal, state and federal levels. Many have also continued on and earned bachelor and master degrees for continued advancement in their law enforcement careers, including obtaining command positions.

Superior Training at the Police Academy

Macomb’s Criminal Justice Training Center is accredited by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), and its Police Academy is recognized throughout the state for developing superior police officers.
