Brainstorming Session on Smart Cities Index Date: May 11, 2015

Shrimoyee Bhattacharya, Research Scientist from CSTEP attended a brainstorming session on Smart Cities Index, organised by the Indian School of Business (ISB), Mohali. Eminent experts and representatives from relevant government departments participated in the discussion. Mr. Om Prakash Agarwal, Executive Director of the Punj Lloyd Institute of Infrastructure Management at ISB, chaired the session.
The workshop was aimed at sharing the work done by ISB on the indicators and index for smart cities, which could be used in the Smart Cities Scheme launched by Government of India. The discussions started with general brainstorming over the concept of smart cities and the relevance of indicators. Participants were divided into groups during the latter half of the workshop to critically examine specific sectoral indicators and suggest modifications and changes. Useful ideas, concerns and views were shared by participants to enhance the usefulness of indicators in order to suit the smart cities concept in India.
