Workshop on PV Module Reliability in Hot Climates Date: October 18-20, 2015

Venue: Mumbai

Harshid Sridhar, Research Engineer from CSTEP attended a workshop on PV Module Reliability in Hot Climates, organised by the Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay in association with National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), National Renewable Energy Laboratories (NREL, US). The Workshop aimed to host discussions related to degradation and reliability aspects of Photovoltaic modules. It drew participation from from several organisations, including NISE, NREL, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Arizona State University (ASU, US), Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Indian Institute of Technology – Mandi, Infosys, Corning Glass (US), First Solar, Reliance Infrastructure, Vikram Solar, King Abdullah University of Science and technology (Saudi Arabia), King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy (Saudi Arabia), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dubai), Central Electronics Ltd., Solar Systems Solutions, and Igrenenergi.

The discussions were focussed on sharing knowledge on the current experience in the deployment and commissioning of solar parks with respect to understanding degradation of solar panels in hot climatic conditions. The topic was in congruence with the real issues that are to be considered with respect to the ambitious solar energy targets pertaining to photovoltaic technology.
