Deepthi Swamy, Senior Research Analyst from CSTEP attended an event on ‘2.3-116 and Digital Wind Farm Launch’, on March 30, 2016 at New Delhi. The event was co-organised by General Electric (GE), India and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) with the objectives of launching GE’s latest wind turbine and digital wind farm application, and providing a platform for discussions on the policy environment and future prospects of the onshore wind sector.
The two hour event was organised in two parts. The first hour consisted of a panel discussion with representatives from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (Ms. Varsha Joshi), National Institute of Wind Energy (Dr. S Gomathinayagam), Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd. (Mr. K S Popli), GE Renewable Energy (Mr. Jerome Pecresse) and GE South Asia (Mr. Banmali Agrawala).
The discussions were focused mainly on the cost of financing wind projects, re-powering policies, potential for wind-solar hybrids, uniform regulations for forecasting and potential mechanisms for underwriting currency risks for renewable energy projects. The second session included the product launch, with presentations by GE representatives on an overview of the wind turbine and digital wind farm and their activities in the renewable energy and onshore wind sectors.
