Choosing whether to live “in the world” or following Jesus, yet realizing that, although a new creation in Christ, we are still a work under construction. This two scene drama uses the analogy of a person compared to a home under construction, and needing some upgrades from time to time, and thinking of who may be reliable to perform the on-going construction.

Script: Dawn is sitting on stage reading a Bible, Heather comes on stage Heather:

Hey Dawn, whatcha doing?

Dawn:

Just looking up some stuff in the manual.

Heather:

Manual? Why would you need a manual?

Dawn:

Oh maybe you never heard, I am working for a new boss now.

Heather:

A new boss, why would you want to go and do a thing like that?

Dawn:

Oh Heather, it’s just so exciting!

Heather:

Just who is this new boss anyhow?

Dawn:

The Boss’ name is Jessie, . . . . Master’s Construction.

Heather:

Master’s Construction? . . What’s with this, you’re not part of World Living anymore?

Dawn:

Heather, you should come to Master’s Construction too, you would just . .

Heather:

Mind telling me what's so wrong with World Living?

Dawn:

Heather, you just won't believe the benefits Jessie has to offer.

Heather:

OK, Dawn, sell me on it.

Dawn:

Well, Heather, to start with, Jessie will never let you down.

Heather:

Where have I heard that line before?

Dawn:

It’s true Heather, Master’s is different, Jessie really does care about his people.

Heather:

Forgive me for being sceptical, it's just that it's just that promises are easily made, easily broken.

Dawn:

I know Heather, that’s why I left World Living, I could never count on them in the crunch. But like I say, Jessie is different; not at all like World Living. Fact is he is really out of this world.

Heather:

Really? From time to time I have heard something about Master’s Construction, from what I hear it's all rules and regulations, can't do this, can't do that.

Dawn:

Oh, it's not like that at all. . . . Heather, I gotta tell you, I have never been so happy, . . more than happy,. . contented, than since I signed up with Master’s Construction!

Heather:

Wow! Sounds to me like you have really got it all together.

Dawn:

No, not at all, still lots of stuff I need to know, things I need to improve on. . . But the thing is with Jessie I know that, no matter what, I can turn to him, talk to him when things aren’t going so good.

Heather:

Wow, and he’s like, . . there?

Dawn:

Every time. . . And Jessie fixes things inside and out, repairs, rebuilds.

Heather:

Wow! Now that’s different! Maybe you heard, I had some problems a while back, foundation was crumbling . . World Living came and gave me a paint job. . . I mean the new paint job made things kinda look better, but my foundation is still shot!

Dawn:

I know Heather, that’s what was happening when I was in World Living. . . (thinks) . . . I have an idea . . . why don’t we go out, have a look at some projects that Jessie has worked on.

Heather:

Makes sense. . . (big smile) . . actually sounds like a great idea Dawn!

Nice neighbourhood! What do they call this area.

Dawn:

Salvation Acres.

Heather:

Different kinda name. . . (looks around) . . You know, fact is I wouldn’t mind living here.

Dawn:

Well get in touch with Narrow Gate Agency.

Heather:

Nah, I got my own realtor, rates are better, don’t have to go through all the hoops that you do with the Narrow Gate people.

Dawn:

Sorry Heather, Narrow Gate is the exclusive agents for Salvation Acres. . . And fact is, there’s really no hoops at all, just call on Jessie, give up your old agencies, give everything over to Narrow Gate and walk on in.

Heather:

Sounds simple enough I guess . . But I have been sold a bill of goods so many times, . . . sorry I need proof.

Dawn:

Nothing wrong with that . . (points offstage) . . See, over there, you remember Jane Forrester? That’s her place now.

Heather:

No way! Wow, Jane, everything about Jane was a bit of a disaster. Jane tried everything, nothing seemed to work.

Dawn:

Jessie showed Jane that nothing short of a full makeover would do. . . And, look at her now!

Heather:

Full makeover huh? . . Extreme . . But effective I guess. . . . Amazing.

Dawn, points to another offstage area: And there, Jason McDonald. Heather, shocked OK now I refuse to believe that anything even remotely connected to Jason McDonald could look that good! Dawn:

Well, see for yourself! . . (points offstage to another location) . . There’s Andrea Knowles. . . . (points offstage to another location) . . and Alex Anderson . . . . (points offstage to another location) . . and . .

Heather, makes football timeout sign: OK, OK, OK, I believe you . . I believe you! . . . But how did Jessie do such awesome makeovers to Jason and Alex and all the rest? Dawn, points to offstage location: See, there's one that’s under construction. . . See the foundation? Heather:

Wow! No crumbling foundation there!

Dawn, pats Bible: Built on solid stone, just like two of Jessie’s main workers, Matthew and Luke suggest here, (pats Bible), in the manual! Heather:

Looks like excellent construction materials for sure.

Dawn:

Yes, but the secret is Jessie’s workmanship, it’s second to none. And thing is, he never leaves you.

Heather:

Never?

Dawn:

Never.

Heather:

Well can't beat that. . . . (looks around) . . . A question . . . Why is it that most of these houses have some touch-up work being done?

Dawn:

Well, even the best of houses need a touch-up now and then, guess we are all kinda under construction.

Heather:

Under construction huh?

Dawn:

Yep, as well built as things are here in Salvation Acres, we are still a long ways from perfect. That includes houses and all occupants.

Heather:

Occupants too?

Dawn:

Yep, all under construction.

Heather:

All ages?

Dawn:

All ages under construction.

Heather:

Even kids?

Dawn:

Kids under construction are special projects.

Heather:

Special projects? Why’s that?

Dawn:

Well, kids, like new lumber, new mortar, are easily moulded. As the material, or the person, gets older it is less able to be shaped and moulded.

Heather:

No wonder that kids under construction are special projects.

Dawn:

Jessie has said many times in the manual that kids are special, and that’s good enough for me. . . . So what about you Heather, think Jessie is right for you?

Heather:

You have convinced me Dawn, I want to be a kid under construction too!
