HS Adventure Trip

Colorado July 23-30

Why Adventure Trips? An outdoor adventure trip provides a unique opportunity for students and leaders to put aside the distractions of a "normal" week and experience a new place with new activities and new friends. The FPC staff works hard to ensure that the focus of each adventure is on seeing, hearing, and knowing the will of Christ. We believe Christ reveals himself powerfully through the “words” of Scripture and the “works” of the world. From our own experiences, we have seen that God uses the wilderness uniquely to reveal his power, creativity, and love. We spend time exploring, worshipping, enjoying our surroundings, and strengthening our relationships. Matthew 17: 1-2 “And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light.” The adventure company hosting our group, Noah’s Ark, is a phenomenal organization that is based in Buena Vista, CO. They have a base camp on the river and their experienced guide will talk us into some of the most beautiful parts of Colorado!

Why are we going to the Colorado Mountains? Colorado is home to some of the most breathtaking views that you will never find in Houston! The Rocky Mountains will provide incredible hikes, white water rafting and so much more. There are plenty of isolated and beautiful spots where you can find time to reflect and grow closer to God. This trip offers an incredible location that provides adventure, reflection and revelation.

Where will we be staying? For the adventure portion, we will be staying at the base camp of Noah’s Ark. The last night we will be in Boulder, CO at a local church. Noah’s Ark: 713-395-2158 23910 US Hwy 285, Buena Vista, CO 81211 **The last night in Boulder, we will attend a Colorado Rockies Baseball Game!

How will we stay safe? Noah’s Ark has highly selective outdoor company that only hires the most responsible and well trained staff. Each member has all the outdoor certifications that one could need! The food is handled and prepared by Noah’s Ark kitchen staff at the camp. Every outdoor activity is done in a large group, with several guides.

What is the weather typically like? Averages for Colorado: Highs: 80’s Lows: 40’s Weather can change instantly in the mountains. It is always better to be over-prepared.

What leaders will be on the trip? 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Ryan Born, Youth Director Ali Silverman, HS Director Joe Flinn, HS Summer Intern Cam Cook, HS Summer Intern Gigi Hanna, HS Summer Intern Brittany Martin, HS Summer Intern Morgan Watson, Ministry Coordinator
