CLARIFICATION ON THE APPROVAL STATUS OF SRI BHAGAWAN MAHAVEER JAIN COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING, (COLLEGE CODE 143). In view of the reports carried on 8th July 2011, by the sections of media covering the counseling process conducted by Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), quoting KEA communiqué that it has warned the candidates about selecting seats in colleges including Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering (College Code 143) under Jain University, would do so solely at their risk. Jain University based on the above said reports, we would like to bring the following for the Kind Attention of the Parents/Students/Media. The Central Government, which is empowered under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, on the advice of the UGC, has declared Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College as an “Institution Deemed‐to‐be‐University” vide the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s notification No.F.9‐57/2007‐U.3 (A) dated 19th December 2008 & 24th July 2009 in the name and style of “Jain University”. Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering (College Code ‐ 143), Jain Global Campus, Jakkasandra Post, Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District – 562 112, has also been included as a constituent unit of the Jain University. Jain University draws attention of all candidates seeking career at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering to the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) Notification No.F.2‐1/2006‐U.3 (A) dated 07th April 2006, which states, “It is not a pre‐requisite for an institution notified as a ‘Deemed to be University’ to obtain the approval of the AICTE, to start any programme in technical or management education leading to an award, including degrees in disciplines covered under the AICTE Act, 1987. However, institutions notified as ‘Deemed to be University’ are required to ensure the maintenance of the minimum standards prescribed by the AICTE for various
courses that come under the jurisdiction of the said Council. It is expected that the institutions notified as ‘Deemed to be University’ maintain their standards of education higher than the minimum prescribed by the AICTE.” And further whereas all those students who seek admission into Jain University’s Engineering Programme at Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering (College Code 143) under various programmes, will continue to pursue their courses of study under enrollment and affiliation to the Jain University, which shall conduct examinations for them till they complete the courses/ programmes of study, they are pursuing, and award degrees for them upon successful completion of their respective courses / programmes of study. And further whereas it is a bounded duty of Jain University, which is Governed by the regulations of University Grants Commission and the Ministry Human Resources Development to safeguard the interests and careers of the students whose seek admission in to Jain University. All parents/students are here by assured that Jain University (Sri Bhagawan Mahaveer Jain College of Engineering (College Code ‐ 143) maintained standards beyond the prescribed mandatory norms as laid down by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi.
