At that time, very little information if any was available to producers as to “how to” grow hemp successfully. Kevin contracted his hemp production with Hemp Oil Canada (HOC) and soon came to work with HOC as their Seed Production Manager. He currently contracts certified organic and conventional grain production across the prairies for HOC. He consults with many hemp growers on the best management principles for hemp grain production. Additionally, he manages and markets HOC’s Finola pedigreed planting seed, which is the most popular hemp grain variety sold in Canada. Kevin is also a founding partner in Hemp Genetics International (HGI), a Saskatoon based industrial hemp pedigreed seed company. HGI specializes in high yielding hemp grain varieties (i.e. CFX1 / CFX-2 / CRS-1). Kevin currently serves as HGI’s Operations Manager, overseeing the seed replication program and pedigreed seed sales. Between his work with hemp producers across the prairies and his own pedigreed seed farm, Kevin has developed real working knowledge of the main hemp grain varieties in Western Canada, their suitability to various climes and production systems. He is committed to helping growers be successful as they enter the hemp industry. Kevin is married to Diane, and they have two young sons, Sam and Louie who are homeschooled. The four split their time between farming in Laird, SK and their coastal home in Langley BC.

Rob's passion for business has found him at the pioneering phase of many new and exciting industries including, the Internet and IT industry in Calgary, self-producing a traveling internet based vegan cooking show, and becoming president and owner of an organic food manufacturing company called Friendly Foods. He now uses that experience to help businesses grow and thrive in the new economy by showing them the inherent value of working within the context of economic, human and natural capital. There can't be sustainability without collaboration, and there can't be culture without community.
