Continuous  Improvement  Process:  Assessing,  Planning,  Implementing,   Evaluating     Five  variables  we  pay  attention  to  in  order  to  change  behavior  (STOIC) •Structures  for  success.   •Teach  expectations  (like  a  great  basketball  coach).   •Observe—circulate  and  scan.   •Interact  positively  with  students.   •Correct  misbehavior  fluently.     The  goal  of  classroom/school  management  is  to  develop  a  classroom/school   of  students  who  are  responsible,  motivated,  and  highly  engaged  in   meaningful  tasks.     My  thoughts  about  the  DVD  series  being  used  in  my  school  or  district:

        7. Leadership  Teams:   •Represents  specific  staff  members   •Meet  regularly   •Identify  problems  through  the  analysis  of  data   •Develop  solutions   •Make  recommendations  to  the  staff   • Recognizes  the  Principal  can’t  do  it  alone

8. How  might  a  leadership  team  function  in  my  school?      If  there  is  already  a   team  in  place,  how  might  it  improve  its’  effectiveness?         9. School-‐wide  PBIS  Focus:  The  CHAMPS  framework  is  to  the  Classroom  as   Foundations  (Leadership  Team  Processes)  is  to  the  School.       10. Guidelines  for  Success   •Not  rules   •Intended  to  “inspire”  students  and  staff   •A  way  of  being   •Concepts  we  are  continually  developing  all  of  our  lives   •Everything  we  do  should  be  able  to  be  tied  back  to  our  “guidelines”       11. Create  a  list  of  some  of  the  common  areas  in  your  school:         12. Reasons  for  using  film  as  data   a. It’s  real…the  eye  in  the  sky  don’t  lie!   b. Allows  many  people  to  see  the  same  thing  without  being  in  the  same   place  at  the  same  time   c. We  can  review  it  as  many  times  as  we  want   d. Film  can  be  used  to  train  others  (adults  and  students)     13. Film  review  process   a. Acquire  the  film  clip   b. Observe  it  together   c. Describe  analytically  (non-‐judgmentally)  what  is  observed   d. Ask:  In  what  ways  does  what  we  see  meet  or  not  meet  our   expectations?   e. Ask:  What  actions  might  be  taken  to  change  behavior  to  be  more   consistent  with  expectations?  (Think  STOIC)       14. Something  I  want  to  remember  from  today’s  webinar  #3  is……..
