The Day Emily Blew Up Acting Talent! By: Kayla T. It was just a Monday morning and Emily was sleeping on the bed in her room when all of a sudden Emily’s mom calls her for breakfast. Emily sweetie time for breakfast! Emily gets startled a little bit and falls out of bed. Ouch! What time is it? 7:00 AM. Emily sweetie are you ok? Yeah. Just had a little accident. Oh ok. Emily runs downstairs to get her breakfast. Here you go Emily. I made you some eggs and bacon along with some orange juice too. Thanks mom. This tastes so good. (Eats the eggs and bacon and drinks the orange juice). You’re welcome. And Jessie I made you a vegetable salad with lettuce, red cabbage, carrots, and tomatoes. But mom! I don’t want this vegetable salad. It tastes gross. And why does Emily get eggs and bacon for breakfast? Jessie please eat your vegetable salad. Last week I told you to eat healthy foods and you didn’t listen to me so that’s why I’m making you eat this. Fine. (Eats the vegetable salad). Thanks Landon. You’re welcome Kendall. All finished mom. That eggs and bacon was so good and the orange juice too. Well I’m glad you enjoyed honey. (Puts away Emily and Jessie’s plates). Anyways Emily go get ready for school. You too Jessie. Ok mom. (Emily goes upstairs and gets ready for school). While Emily is upstairs still getting ready for school Jessie goes to get ready for school and then she comes downstairs. Emily hurry up! We have to drop off Jessie to school in a few minutes. I’m coming! (Rushes to get ready by brushing her teeth, brushing her hair, making her bed, and packing her backpack). (Emily rushes downstairs). Okay I’m ready. Haha! You slowpoke. Hey you’re a slowpoke too Jessie. Guys stop calling each other names! Now let’s all get in the car and take Jessie to school. Sorry mom.

Bye Oliver. Oliver barks while Emily, Jessie, Kendall, and Landon leave to go in the car to drive Jessie to school. 5 minutes later… Bye mom, bye dad. Have a great first day of school Jessie! You too Jessie. Bye Emily. Bye Jessie. Jessie gets out of the car to go to school. Alright now let’s take Emily to school. Kendall and Landon drive Emily to school. Emily listens to pop music on her phone while her mom and dad listen to rock music which she hates so much. 30 minutes later… Alright we have arrived at the Louven Middle School. It looks like a very nice school. It must of been built millions of years ago. Eh something like that. Well you have a great day at school okay sweetie? What if nobody likes me and wants to be my friend? You’ll be fine. I’m sure you’ll make great friends. Thanks mom. Kendall gives Emily a kiss on the cheek. Landon starts to cry a little bit while Emily gets out of the car. There goes my little princess. Landon. You know she isn’t little anymore right? Right. Sorry. Perhaps I forgot. (Starts to break out in tears again). Kendall and Landon drive back home and take care of Oliver and also do a few things around the house. (Walks in the school. Arrives there at 8:10 and picks up her schedule in front of the principal’s office). Have a great day Emily! You too Principal Walker. Emily goes to her locker (# 956) in the 7th grade hallway to put away her stuff and grab her binder, water bottle, and notebooks. Everyone in the hallway is giving her mean-looks and rude comments about herself. Walks to her first period which is theatre located in room 456 down the hall first door to the left. Enters the theater classroom where there is a teacher along with 14 students who are giving her mean stares. Hi you must be the new student. I’m Mrs. Smith the theatre teacher and Hannah’s mom.

Mom please don’t embarrass me. Sorry honey. Anyways what’s your name? Emily Rosedale. “Emily Rosedale”? What a stupid name. Leave her alone Alex! You. You are such a drama queen. Leave her alone Alex! You are such a bad influence on Hannah. Now you be quiet. No you be quiet before I dump this bottle of water on you. You better not. (Class oohs). (Bell rings at 8:20 AM). That’s enough Alex, Emily, and Hannah! Anyways hello class. First thing we’re going to do is take attendance and then move onto the lesson for today. 10 minutes later… For today’s lesson we are going to spend some time getting to know each other. So you each have to tell us a little fact about yourself. Let’s start off with Emily. (Emily walks up to the front of the classroom while the class except for Hannah stares in suspicion). Whenever you’re ready. Hi my name is Emily Rosedale. I’m 12 years old and I moved to Austin, Texas. I have a younger sister named Jessie who’s 10 years old. I’ve been homeschooled for most of my life so my mom and dad had to tutor me. But my parents weren’t making enough money so now I go to a public school. (Whole class). Boo! Settle down class! Very nice Emily. Next! 15 minutes later… We’ve gotten to know a little bit about each other we are going to move on to the next part which is the elements of theater-Performers, audience, director, theatre space, design aspects, and text. Ha! She thinks that she’s so smart huh? Well obviously she’s not. I am smart Sarah! Huh. I bet I’m starter than you. I’ve had it with this nonsense of you children! I’m going to go to the teacher lounge to get some more coffee. Y’all can stay here and chat with each other. (Goes to the STAFF room to get some more coffee). (While everyone is chatting Emily tries to get their attention). Hey everyone! Can I have your attention please? Mia: No! Um Hannah? Can you help me get the class to pay attention?

Sure thing. (Emily and Hannah whistle to the class). Whole class: What?! Okay so you know how I walked in the classroom and you guys just started at me with very mean looks? Jack said “Yeah why? We didn’t want to hear you talking for the rest of the period. Hurry up!” (Mrs. Smith enters and stands by the door and watch Emily’s little speech). First of all I have not been treated with kindness or respect today. Class stares in silence. Class whispers to each other. I really feel so bad for acting mean towards you. So is the rest of the class. Really? Are you sure? Be honest Alex. Yes. Me and the rest of us are really really really sorry-Just stop. Sorry. Wow Emily that was a very nice little speech. How’d you get the class to settle down? I had a little help from Hannah. Alright everyone class is dismissed. I’ll see you guys tomorrow! Everyone runs out the door to get to their next class. While walking to her next class, math a cute boy named Hayden Richards walks up to Emily and have a little conversation. Hi Emily. What’s your name? Hayden Richards. Wow that’s a nice name. I just love everything about you. Your dress is pretty, your eyes are pretty, everything about you is so pretty. Really? Well everything about you is so handsome. Thank you. What class do you have next? I have math, then science, language arts, leadership, lunch/advisory, dance, and Texas History. Cool. I have Boys Athletics, science, language arts, lunch/advisory, leadership, math, and Texas History. Awesome! I’ll see you in science! And I have a secret to tell you in science. What is it? You’ll find out then. Ok. THE END!
