Beg 6 Unit 6 writing prompt (Interchange 2) Prompt Prompt Imagine you live in an apartment building. In the building where you live, there are a lot of things that need to be fixed. Write a letter of complaint to the manager of the building and include details of the things you’d like to complain about and the things that need to be fixed. Make sure you use two part verbs (SB 36). Also, use request with modals when asking the manager for a solution to the problems (SB 39) Example: Dear Manager, The building is in a very poor condition. Things are falling apart and it’s a mess. One can barely walk through the hallways because there are too many things in the way. Our neighbors leave their garbage outside and they don’t throw away their waste. Another thing, no one ever turns off the lights when they leave the common areas and it’s a terrible waste of energy. On top of this, the neighbors from 14A always leave their music on and they never turn down the volume; something has to be done. Would you mind doing something about these things? I’d love to sit together for a meeting with you and discuss some possible solutions. Could you meet me tomorrow after lunch? Thank you, Xavier Sanchez Target language: toys, messy, neat, trash, garbage, chores, junk food, yard, (two part verbs) Hang up, clean up, pick up/out, put on/ down/ up, take out/up/on, throw out/away/down, turn off/on/down/away, leave on/off Grammar: Requests with modals: Modal + simple form of verb Can you turn down the music down? Could you close the door please? Would you please take your garbage out?
